Marion, a farmer in the Alpes de Haute Provence, grows and harvests perfume, aromatic and medicinal plants on her plots. She wishes to turn to a farming system that respects the soil, enriches biodiversity and preserves water resources. To achieve this, Marion has chosen agroforestry and aims to plant 693 trees of 33 different species.

Affected by chestnut ink disease, some forests in the north of Ile-de-France (Paris region) are rapidly dying out. Such is the damage in Montmorency – where chestnut trees currently represent 70% of its cover – that the forest was classified as being in a health crisis in 2018. When the trees are diseased or dead, the French National Forests Office (Office national des forêts, ONF), a partner of A Tree for You, must then resort to sanitation cutting. This project seeks to restore healthy afforestation with more resistant species. This project is entirely financed by the Or en Cash Fondation.

In Kenya, most of the coffee production is provided by small scale farmers weakened by coffee prices’ variations, difficult weather conditions and a high cost of inputs. Thanks to this project, more than 2,750 smallholder farmers will be trained, over 365,750 remaining trees (including coffee trees) will be planted and more than 11,400 beneficiaries will take advantage of its impacts.

In the River Zio valley, the soil is extremely degraded and not very fertile for subsistence crops. The local population also lacks firewood and timber, collecting them from the forest along the river. The aim of this project is to plant 15,000 trees in 4 villages to provide the locals with food and wood and protect the Zio river gallery forest.
