French Guiana boasts over 1,500 tree species and is one of the world’s five High-Biodiversity Wilderness Areas (HBWA). This diversity is under threat from gold mining and increasing urbanization. In addition, there is little know-how today to preserve local tree species. This project involves planting 625 trees to establish a seed orchard with species endemic to this particular territory, which, over time, will help preserve and restore the natural environment currently under threat.

This innovative project aims to transform 30 hectares of grassland into an agroforestry system unique to Brittany. Planting 1,869 trees of 28 different species will improve the well-being of the cows, enrich the soil, protect biodiversity, and enhance the quality of the meadows for better grazing. Using modern techniques and well-chosen trees, the project is creating a more resilient environment while diversifying farm income.

In the River Zio valley, the soil is extremely degraded and not very fertile for subsistence crops. The local population also lacks firewood and timber, collecting them from the forest along the river. The aim of this project is to plant 80,000 trees in 10 villages to provide the locals with food and wood and protect the Zio river gallery forest. This project is the continuation of projects carried out in the region since 2019.

Aurélien and Pierre, two winegrowers in the Ain region of France, are increasingly feeling the impacts of extreme weather events such as droughts and frosts. To tackle these climate challenges, they have decided to plant 1,510 trees in the middle of their vineyards to improve water cycle management and soil fertility.

At Ferme de Taillefer, Éliane, a passionate beekeeper and farmer, aims to plant 339 fruit-bearing and melliferous trees across five hectares to protect her land from drought and erosion. This agroforestry project will create a genuine ecological corridor to foster biodiversity and feed the hives. The trees will provide shade, improve soil fertility and resilience, while also enhancing the landscape.

Let’s help the Lisu and Naxi minorities recover their ancestral skills in gathering and preparing medicinal plants, in addition to planting fruit trees and trees that benefit the soil, water, and biodiversity.
The Lisu and Naxi minorities need help to recover their ancestral skills in gathering and preparing medicinal plants. Planting 5,073 fruit and environmental trees, in addition to medicinal plants, will help tackle the high level of soil erosion in the region, enrich biodiversity and provide an additional income for local inhabitants through sales of medicinal plants and fruit harvested. This project builds on a first plantation plan in the village of Liming in 2020.

Pierre, who grows ancient wheat in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, is increasingly feeling the impacts of extreme weather events like droughts and storms on his land. To improve the fertility of his soil and boost biodiversity, he wants to reintroduce 1,440 trees of 25 different species on his plots of land.

A farmer, Félix raises a 150-head herd of Red Angus in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques (southwest France). He is keen to adopt agroforestry and put trees at the heart of the cattle pasture. Introducting 1,208 trees will provide additional food and shade for the livestock, improve soil fertility, and enrich biodiversity on the farm.

Yves is a crop farmer in the Beauce region of France. He works in organic and conservation agriculture and is keen to expand this approach to include more sustainable farming methods by planting trees on his land. Introducing 6,579 trees of over 50 different species will reduce the significant loss of soil and fertility and enrich the surrounding biodiversity.

Marie and Olivier, winegrowers in Bouches-du-Rhône, are convinced trees have a role to play in the farming system. By introducing them, they wish to create a more pleasant and functional working environment, improve water management and prevent the risk of erosion, while protecting the vines from the effects of climate change. Planting 1,246 trees of 28 different species will allow them to tackle these challenges.
