Information and confidentiality
The association A TREE FOR YOU makes every effort to handle personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), published in the Official Journal of the European Union (EU) and implemented as of 25 May 2018.
In line with the RGPD, any information for individuals concerned by data processing must be provided in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form. Consequently, before providing data, when making a donation or placing an order for instance, A TREE FOR YOU users are informed how their data will be used and must either agree to it being processed, or refuse. In the latter case, browsing the website, e.g. for a donation or order, may be blocked and the transaction underway cancelled.
If the user is under 16 (a minor), it is clearly indicated that consent must be obtained from the person with parental authority. Details on processing the personal data of minors are written in clear and simple terms that he or she can easily understand.

As a general rule, users may visit our website without having to reveal their identity or provide any personal details.
In accordance with the minimisation principle of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the method for processing the data collected is designed to limit the quantity processed right from the start. So we request extra details to handle a donation, order, or subscription for example, or to get in touch, provide a tax receipt, or process a CV submitted. We may add to this information in order to complete a transaction or offer a better service.
When required by A TREE FOR YOU for handling donations or orders, the information is highlighted with an asterisk (*).
Some personal information, such as a person’s identity (surname and first name) or details on the donations made and for which projects, is transferred to our planting partners. This enables the latter to send users updates on the progress of their projects via the A TREE FOR YOU social network. Postal and email addresses are not shared with planting partners.
The ‘distribution’ partners, who direct users to our web and so promote our planting action, may access the personal data of the users concerned, including their identity (surname and first name), postal and email addresses, details on the donations made (amount and projects). These distribution partners may communicate directly with users via email. Postal addresses are not shared with distribution partners.
In response to any request by legal authorities or to protect its rights or those of its employees, clients, or any other person, A TREE FOR YOU may nevertheless share this data with legally entitled organisations and authorities.
Apart from the specific cases mentioned above, personal data will not be shared with any third party, in any form whatsoever.
When donating or ordering on our site, users are automatically allocated a page on our A TREE FOR YOU-dedicated social network. This personal page (access protected by a user name and password) directly links up with the project group(s) for the donation(s) made, and the ‘distribution’ partner when the user is directed to our website by one of them. These links ensure users stay up to date on the progress of the planting projects they are supporting through the social network,and mean they may be contacted by the planting partners, the distribution partners, or by A TREE FOR YOU. Users can adjust the settings of their personal page on the social network to filter the sources of information and how they are received.
A TREE FOR YOU may contact users by email or the social network to share information, collect donations, or manage the website.
A TREE FOR YOU agrees to take every necessary precaution to safeguard its files, protect its computer system, and in particular prevent the personal data of users from being misrepresented, damaged, or accessed by unauthorised third parties. The personal data of users is sent to and stored by hosting company OVH, headquartered at 2, rue Kellermann, 59100, Roubaix, France.
Users are entitled to access, change, correct, and delete […] any personal data relating to them. In line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), they also have data portability rights, which allows users to retrieve data they have provided in a format that is easily reusable, and, if so desired, subsequently transfer it to a third party.
To claim these rights, users simply need to send a request by email to email@example.com or by post to A TREE FOR YOU, Protection des Données Personnelles, Péniche India Tango, 1 port des Champs Elysées, 75008, Paris, France, clearly marking their surname, first name, and email address.
While a visitor browses a website, cookies gather information on the time spent browsing the site, the visitor’s identity (recognised through the doubly encrypted value of their user name and password) and the content of their shopping cart. Once the visitor has left the site, this information is stored for 15 (fifteen) days then permanently deleted. Only the A TREE FOR YOU site can decode the encrypted content of cookies.
The visitor may prevent cookies from being saved by configuring his or her browser. By so doing, they can no longer benefit from any of the personalised services offered on the website.

If you are under 16 (a minor), the person who has parental authority (your father, mother, or other) must accept what is written in this text and click on ‘accept’ at the bottom of the window. As a minor, you don’t have the right to do this yourself or ask any other adult to do so instead!
To ensure you fully understand, we are going to ask for details about yourself – your surname, first name, email address, and possibly even your postal address – when you want to donate or place an order: As is usually the case, the most important information required is marked with an asterisk (*).
Your surname, first name, email address, donations, the places where the trees are to be planted, or items you have ordered on our website: all this information may be given to the people planting the trees, or to other A TREE FOR YOU partners. We will create a page for you in our social network to put you in contact with all these partners, especially those planting the trees. These people may contact you with news on the projects. We may also contact you. At any moment you can refuse to get in touch with someone by deleting them from your ‘friends’ in the social network, or by changing the settings for your personal page, e.g. to restrict emails.
You may also request that all your data be deleted from both everywhere on our website and your page on our social network by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org or writing to A TREE FOR YOU, Protection des Données Personnelles, Péniche India Tango, 1 port des Champs Elysées, 75008, Paris, France, clearly marking your surname, first name, and email. At both these addresses, you can also ask to retrieve your personal data.
